C. Jay Dinero has been putting in work under the radar for a few years now, but that's all beginning to change as we speak. Releasing multiple mixtapes and working with DJ's across America is starting to get him noticed. With his current single "In Da Car" featuring Midwest Tone & Spade gaining rotations in multiple markets in Ohio, this Cincinnati native and current Findlay resident could end up having his best year to date.
Q: For those who might not be familiar with you, why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
A: It's ya boy, C. Jay Dinero!!! Straight outta Cincinnati, Ohio born & raised!!! 513/419 representer!!! Get right or get left ya digg?!
Q: You have quite the collection of mixtapes, how long have you been writing and recording?
A: I been writing since I was bout 11 years old. This music shit was just a hobby to me then. I had no aspirations of being rapper, it was just something to do. I recorded my first song when I was 15 with a few homeboys from the hood. We used to slang the tapes at school. Play em when we used to be on the block and shit. The hood started fucking wit us, so i kinda started to take it serious. Dropped my first mixtape in 2007 and I've been rocking ever since. Non stop grinding.
Q: What DJs have you worked with?
A: Lets see I've worked with DJ Dimepiece, DJ Skinny Fresh, DJ Smarts, DJ Skno, DJ Jay Rock, DJ Logikal, DJ Suspence, DJ Polar Bear and a few others I cant remember lol. I'm trying to fuck with as many DJ's as possible.
Q: Working on any upcoming projects? and who are you working with?
A: Oh yeah, I got that "MPK3: The Hangover" mixtape coming with DJ Spinatik!!! This here is part 3 in my "Money, Pussy & Kush" series. I decided to take it down south and work with the Wax Wizard on this one. Get a bigger push behind this one, cause I've dropped a lotta mixtapes but most are only available online. This here is the project before my debut album "Tattoos, Black Flags & Dickies" drops this summer! This is my 1st LP so its gonna be crazy! I got production from Syn Beatz, Mac Niff, Kill Will, StunnaMFBaby, Midwest Tone, DJay Cas, A-Pluss and a few other up & coming producers. As far as features go, I don't wanna give away any of that info yet, but you can check out my 1st single "In Da Car" featuring Midwest Tone & Spade. It's produced by Midwest Tone. It's picked up some plays in the clubs across Ohio with the video coming soon!
Q: So what do you think about the hip-hop scene here in Ohio?
A: I think the hip-hop scene is looking real good actually. Better than it's been before. Cleveland is killing it right now with Kid Cudi, Chip Tha Ripper and Machine Gun Kelly. I think every other city is noticing it, and they getting they shit together now. Our time is coming. It's looking real diverse. We just need to keep making good music, and our DJ's need to get behind it and push it!
Q: Anyone you wanna shout out?
